Often kindling is hard to find especially in desert and open areas. Fire
starter sticks burn like kindling for approx 20 min. and can be placed
under firewood in place of kindling.
Extra Lighter Fluid
*grocery/corner store*
Incase of emergencies, its always important to have extra lighter fuel
for lighters. Zippo Butane Fuel is a good option
Charcoal Lighter Fluid
*grocery/corner store*
Charcoal lighter fluid can be handy when you have limited kindling to
burn and you need to get a primitive fire started. Douse small logs with
fluid and kindling. Note: fluid is extremely flammable and can light
very fast. Be sure when lighting fire to stand back and keep lots of
water close by incase fire spreads.
Plastic colored cups are not only great for drinking, but also can be
turned into tea light holders for nighttime table lighting. Solo brand
favorite and can be purchased at any grocery store.
Cutting boards really help when a flat - clean surface is not available.
Tin Foil

Tin foil is a staple when cooking on the fire and cooking veggies. Wrap
favorite veggies (covered with butter, salt and pepper) in double
wrapped foil. You can actually cook directly on fire in addition to
cooking on coals or camp stove/bbq.
Zip-Lock Bags
*grocery/corner store*
Zip-Lock bags are a must for clean food storage in coolers. Keeps food
from contaminating ice, and also keeps melted ice water from spoiling
food. More compact than storage containers to save space. Also can be
used as marinade pouch for meats etc.
Good for boiling water for coffee/tea, cooking in a hurry or in a
confined space. Single burners are capable of cooking any meal for solo
campers, and are a nice and compact alternative to larger stoves.
Non stick - good quality pans and pots can really help speed up the
cooking process by displacing heat more efficiently for cooking. Non
stick feature also aids the clean up process - and can usually be wiped
down conserving water.
Important to keep all utensils in one place to find quickly and easily.
Also can prevent accidents and cuts from happening via knives and other
sharp utensils.

Honey is a nice substitute for sugar, and great for tea. It is also
suggested that honey grown locally helps build immunity against

Bounty To Go brand is really great for big messes and pot/pan clean up
(when water is limited). Discarded paper towels also make great fire
starting material.
Heavy Duty Garbage Bags - large.
